About Us

Hope Opportunity & Mental Empowerment is a community-based organization dedicated to serving underserved and low-income communities across all eight Service Planning Areas (SPAs) in Los Angeles County. Our work is centered around culturally responsive, trauma-informed care for children, teens, adults, and families, with a strong emphasis on Spanish-speaking and bilingual populations who often face barriers to accessing traditional mental health services.

We provide a wide range of services free of charge, including therapy in English and Spanish, support and psychoeducational groups, case management, crisis intervention, and community liaison services. We also accept insurance to ensure broader access to care for those with Medi-Cal and other health coverage. Many of our services are provided by volunteers and pro bono work. 

Our prevention work includes emotional wellness workshops for adults and youth, parenting support programs, psychoeducation addressing trauma and stigma, immigration education and support, and resource navigation for housing, food, education, and safety needs. We collaborate closely with local schools, community centers, and grassroots organizations throughout SPAs 1 through 8, ensuring that our services are accessible, inclusive, and community-driven.

Our presence across Los Angeles County allows us to meet community members where they are—whether in urban, suburban, or rural areas—and foster healing-centered, equitable support systems. Our goal is to reduce disparities, elevate community voice, and empower individuals through accessible and compassionate behavioral health care.
